Chet makes violins, violas, five-string fiddles, and more:

In recent years, Chet has specialized more in the five-string variants of the violin family, but his original love was the classical violin family. However, there are so many makers of classical instruments that it is difficult to “stand out from the crowd.”

He made his first five-string fiddle in 2011, and it sold immediately, so his wife, Ann Marie, suggested that he specialize in the 5-string instruments. He was reluctant to do so; but he agreed, and the instruments have kept selling!
